Ophrah Ziniah Kablan Crowned Upstate’s Gospel Best!

After two years of adults dominating the winner’s circle, Ophrah Ziniah Kablan broke the cycle and became the first preteen to be crowned Upstate Black Expo’s Gospel Best winner. Ten-year-old Ophrah battled it out with the Upstate South Carolina’s best in what turned out to be one of the most exciting competitions in Gospel best history!
More than fifty contestants applauded as Ophrah was crowned the Upstate Black Expo’s 2013 Gospel Best winner. As a part of Ophrah’s prize winning package, she received a 2,000 check from Sun City Events and Entertainment and she’ll also receive a professional recording session from L.A. Sounds that will include a demo CD, professional photo shoot and a music video to help jump start her music career. Sun City Events and Entertainment of Jacksonville, Florida oversees the Gospel Best Competitions held by Black Pages USA.
Ophrah’s performance not only moved Dr. Bobby Jones and the thousands in attendance, her testimony also brought judges Alexis Speight, Clive Ennis, and Pastor Sabrina McKenzie to tears. Ophrah’s mother shared how she was told she would never conceive children, but she never gave in to that diagnosis nor did she give up on her prayer to become a mother. Ms. Kablan was not only blessed with a baby girl; but, as she described, her baby girl Ophrah essentially came from the womb with the gift of singing.
