ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. —Authorities investigated a double shooting Saturday that led to a wreck on Highway 28 at Market Street.
Investigators said a man, Willis Donald, 33, and a woman, India Lomax, 21, both of Anderson, were shot.
On Sunday, investigators said Lomax died from a gunshot wound. Donald suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and was taken to AnMed Health for treatment.
Officials said the shooting stemmed from a fight at the Marvon’s nightclub on the Highway 28 bypass.
Investigators said private security guards were trying to disperse a crowd from the nightclub because of a possibility of weapons.
The pickup with Lomax and Donald was apparently told to stop by one of the guards.
The guard told deputies the truck veered in his direction, and he fired his weapon toward it in self-defense.
The truck traveled down the highway and struck a parked car and a utility pole.
Officials said no charges have been filed in the case, and no arrests have been made.
An investigation is underway.
