EASLEY, S.C. —A 6-year-old found a gun and accidentally shot and killed a woman just before 1 p.m. Thursday, police said
Easley police Major Tim Tollison said the woman, Alexandra Anita Santos, was sitting in the passenger seat in a car on Hastings Circle when the child found a gun on the floor board of the back seat.
Tollison said the child accidentally fired the gun, and the shot went through the seat, hitting Santos in the back.
Santos was pronounced deceased at Baptist Medical Center Easley a short time later.
Easley police are investigating how the loaded gun ended up in the back seat of the vehicle with the child.
Tollison said Santos was not the child’s mother.
